- According to the New York Times review of one of these performances, Michael Rubin was the 17 year-old winner of the first annual WQXR Young Artists Competition and part of his prize was to perform at these concerts. The review also says that he performed a shortened version of the Liszt piano concerto, although the printed concert program does not reflect this.
