According to the New York Times, the starting time for the convention was set for 7:30 PM, but didn't come to order until after 8:05 PM, when Charles F. Murphy and J.. Sergeant Cram arrived. Bayne's 69th Regiment Band began playing at 7:30 PM.&#13;
