Note that the printed program, program notes, and New York Times review (Jan. 13, 1922, pg. 21) all refer to this performance of Emerson Whithorne's new work as "first time."  Given that Whithorne lived in New York at the time, it is possible this performance was in fact the world premiere rather than simply the New York premiere.&#13;
