- There was a pre-concert organ recital beginning at 1:30 PM, with organist Edna V. Griffenberg (selections not listed in the printed concert program). A review of this performance published in the New York Times noted the following: "The convocation, attended by the entire student body [of the Missionary Training Institute, presenter of the concert] of 500, alumni and friends, heard musical numbers rendered by a symphony orchestra, a mixed chorus and the glee club, under the direction of Dr. Lee Olson, chairman of the music department of the institute."
