  • Sponsored by the Greater New York Committee for Russian Relief; proceeds for re-equipping 1st Central Medical Institute of Moscow. Entered from New York Times concert listing and review and advertisement in 4/28/1946 program. In the New York Times review for this performance, the songs performed by Marc Blitzstein from his "as yet unnamed music comedy on which he is now working" are described as dealing "with two Americans in Russia". Although little information could be found about "Goloopchik", the time frame and this description seem to suggest that the songs performed by Blitzstein on 5/2/1946 were from this incomplete musical. WORLD PREMIERE of Lou Cooper's THE LAST SPEECH (first concert performance)
