- Entered from booking ledger and New York Times concert listing and review. Although the listing indicates that Ezra Laderman's Partita (Contrasts for Cello) was to be played, the review suggests it was replaced with Laderman's Theme and Variations for Violin and Piano. Additionally, although some of the works by American composers were truly first performances, since Ivo Cruz's Sonata for Violin and Piano was composed in 1922, it is assumed this performance was the United States premiere. Neither the listing nor the review name the members of the Kohon String Quartet; the personnel listed here is based upon that of a performance in January, 1956.
