Chinese comedian Zhou Libo is the founder of Haipai Qingkou (“Shanghainese stand-up”). Created in 2006, Haipai Qingkou is a pioneer of political parody in mainland China and is known throughout Shanghai and China. Zhou’s comedic style is showcased in his stand-up routines, such as “A Laughable Talk on Shanghai” and “A Laughable Talk on the Past 30 Years.” In 2011, Zhou made a crossover to television. In 2012, he received the Starlight Award, the highest honor in China’s television arts, for the Chinese Dream Show, a show that Zhou created himself.
