  • Weill Music Institute Professional Training Workshop: Leon Fleisher Master Class: Beethoven Piano Sonatas Start time is approximate--the workshop took place over the entire day in the Kaplan Space. Four pianists were selected to participate in this two-part workshop. From October 18 to 23, Fleisher worked one-on-one at Carnegie Hall with each student on his or her sonata; additionally, participants learned about physical health from Tessy Brungardt, the physical therapist who helped Leon Fleisher return to performing with both hands. The master classes on October 22 and 23 were a part of this process and allowed participants the chance to share their progress with the public (selections from the sonatas entered here were performed). Fleisher and the four pianists continued the mentoring process from January 17-19, 2008, culminating in a performance in Weill Recital Hall on January 19.
