- A Program of the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall, for students in grades 9 through 12
This was a distance learning event, the second of two concerts transmitted by videoconference between New York City (9 AM local time) and New Delhi, India (6:30 PM local time, at the Sanskriti School, Chanakya Puri), with the Indian Ocean Group performing in Zankel Hall, while the Maurice Brown Effect performed in New Delhi (all performers entered here, as listed in program). The concert was part of the Professional Development Workshop Cultural Exchange: Music of India. The 2009–2010 program explored both New York jazz, and the wide-ranging musical styles and cultures from around the Indian subcontinent. Study of improvisation, rhythmic and harmonic modes, musical texts, and traditional forms culminated in this concert in Zankel Hall.
