- Weill Music Institute Professional Training Workshop: Emanuel Ax Workshop: Brahms Sonatas
Pianist Emanuel Ax explored Johannes Brahms’s sonatas for piano with clarinet/viola, violin, or cello in this weeklong workshop including two public master classes on December 12 and 13, and culminating in two concerts in Weill Recital Hall on December 15 and 16. Along with guest coaches conductor David Zinman and clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, Mr. Ax instructed six pairs of players chosen by taped application process. Pianists and clarinetists, violinists, violists, or cellists—applying in collaborative pairs—between the ages of 18 and 30 were eligible to apply.
