The recipients of these awards comprised the writers of the ten top-selling songs for the sales period from the summer of 1944 to the summer of 1945. Irving Berlin was presented with a special Clef for "God Bless America" as "outstanding morale song of the second World War." Other special Clefs went to Frank Loesser, Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rodgers.
