Global Encounters: Sounds of India, Sounds of the United States

The Weill Music Institute kicks off Global Encounters: Sounds of India with a distance learning event in Zankel Hall that will link high school students and performers in New York with their counterparts in New Delhi, India. In India musicians (including Sandeep Das) and dancers will present classical and folk music styles from North, South, and East India. The performances in Zankel Hall will feature Appalachian bluegrass music and brass band jazz from New Orleans. Students on both ends will not only learn about the music that is presented but also have a chance to ask questions of the musicians and other students.
