William Randolph Hearst ran for Mayor of New York in 1909 on the Civic Alliance ticket. A booklet titled "An Appeal to Democratic Voters of New York" was handed out at the rally and appealed to Democrats to vote for Hearst and not for Tammany Hall candidates.
