According to the August 30 Times listing, "It was announced yesterday that Mrs Franklin D. Roosevelt sent a check of $25 to Mr. Roberts for the encouragement of his musical work. Mr. Roberts played at the reception of the Roosevelt-du Pont wedding at Wilmington, Del." Additionally, the Times review states that the program was devoted to works by J.C. Johnson, Nathaniel Dett, James P. Johnson, James C. Bland, Wen Talbott, Duke Ellington, and Luckey Roberts. A choir, dancers, and vocal soloists were featured. A photograph taken on stage following the concert and published in the NY Amsterdam News shows Roberts at the piano with Clarence Williams, James P.
