- The New York Times review indicates that this recital was interrupted several times by anti-Soviet protesters. "Twice during the performance of Brahms' Sonata No. 3 in D minor young men raced down the aisles to the stage, screaming as they went, with Carnegie Hall security men and the police in pursuit." This followed another incident earlier in the recital where a young man ran down the aisle and got on stage, shouting what the Times said sounded like "Brothers and sisters..." before being removed by guards and the police and being released outside. The review also notes that three (unnamed) encore works by Schubert, Beethoven, and Brahms were played.
