- According to a review published in the New York Times, "Renata Tebaldi broke off her first New York appearance in two years last night at Carnegie Hall because she was "too emotional" to go on." The review further noted, "After two long pauses between numbers Miss Tebaldi left the stage for good during her fifth selection." As per the printed concert program, the fifth selection would have been Donizetti's "Preghiera (Una lagrima)".
