- According to the review published in the New York Times, Gennady Rozhdestvensky did not appear due to illness; pianist Viktoria Postnikova, Rozhdestvensky's wife, also did not perform as scheduled. Lars-Erik Larsson's Violin Concerto, performed by Leo Berlin, concertmaster of the orchestra, was substituted for the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3.
