- ASCAP American Music Festival, Program No.2, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of ASCAP
The weekly concert listing published in New York Times on Oct. 1, 1939, indicates that Duke Ellington and his Orchestra would appear on this program. The NYT review published the following day does not mention Ellington, nor do any other advertising materials or the printed concert program. Although only the bandleaders are listed in the printed program for the "Finale" (Cab Calloway, Noble Sissle, Louis Armstrong, and Claude Hopkins), the NYT listing and review both indicate that at least part of each of their bands performed. Additional details have been added as per the review by Dan Burley, originally published in the New York Amsterdam News, and referenced in a blog post by Ricky Riccardi.
