- Entered from New York Times review, American Jazz Review, and advertisement in Carnegie Pop Concerts program for May 4-10, 1946.
The NYT review indicates that the first part of the program was called "New Orleans, 1910" and featured trombonist George Brunies. The second part was called "Chicago, 1928" and featured Joe Sullivan, Max Kaminsky, Pee Wee Russell, Bud Freeman, Dave Tough, and George Wettling. The third part was called "New York, 1946" and consisted of "songs of the Greenwich Village cafes, featuring Eddie Condon's Orchestra; a Fats Waller suite by Mr. Bushkin; Gershwin tunes played by Mr. Kaminsky on his trumpet, and a jam session with a collective improvisation." Note that the review in American Jazz Review, from which all of the selections here were entered, is more detailed, and does not mention several of the musicians noted in the NYT review (Pee Wee Russell, Bud Freeman, Sid Weiss, Trigger Alpert, George Wettling), who may not have performed.
