Note that while the Carnegie Hall house concert program identifies this performance of Respighi's "The Pines of Rome" as "First time in New York," a scrapbook held by the New York Philharmonic Archives has news clippings stating that the work would be heard for the first time in America. Regarding the Wagner excerpts: an insert in the printed program notes reads: "In the excerpt from Wagner's Gotterdammerung on this program, Mr. Toscanini will include more than is comprised in the usual concert version of Siegfried's Death Scene. He will play all of the music that accompanies the dying Siegfried's apostrophe to Brunnhilde, beginning at the E minor chord for woodwind and horns, which in the opera introduces Siegfried's words, "Brunnhilde! Heilige Braut!" - forty-six measures before the C-sharps of the timpani that begin the Funeral Music in the usual concert excerpt."
