Entered from articles and advertisements in The Sun, the New-York Tribune and New York Times, and excerpt from "Mark Twain: A Biography" by Albert Bigelow Paine; see also ad in 4/17/1906 program. Stated time is approximate. When asked by the president of the Robert Fulton Memorial Association, Gen. Frederick D. Grant, to speak at this event, Twain replied "I will lecture for one thousand dollars, on one condition: that it will be understood to be my farewell lecture, and that I may contribute the thousand dollars to the Fulton Association."
