- Opening Concert of the Carnegie "Pop" Concerts Season of 1946
According to the New York Times review, this program was dedicated to the United Nations. It goes on to state that five First Tier boxes "were occupied by members of the Security Council of the United Nations and their parties, from England, Russia, China, Mexico and Brazil, among them being Dr. Hafez Afiffi, President of the Security Council and representative from Egypt; Sir Alexander Cadogan, permanent representative from the United Kingdoms, and Arkady A. Sobolev of Russia, Assistant Secretary General of the U.N."
Note that several selections mentioned in the review, including those by Morton Gould and John Philip Sousa, do not appear in the original printed program. Similarly, several selections in the printed program, including Copland's "Danzón cubano" and Schuman's "American Festival," are not mentioned in the review. While the additional selections were most likely subsititutions for the latter, all have been entered here.
